Villa Katharina – A unique hotel in Brasvo, Romania
This renovated villa in the center of the historical section of Brasvo is fabulous. It is my favorite hotel from our month long self-drive tour of Romania and Bulgaria. Every detail is attended to – fluffy robe and slippers, delicious pralines at your bedside, tea pot in case your want afternoon tea. Each room, furnished with period furniture including a crawl foot bath tub and writing desk, captures the history of Brasvo but has all the modern conveniences. There is a modern shower in addition to the tub, ample closet space, and air conditioning. The staff is very helpful.
The breakfast, made to order, is served outside in the garden. There are several options for breakfast. My favorite is the Russian menu which includes eggs in mustard sauce, smoked salmon and caviar on toast.
There is always a wonderful sweet coming from the kitchen as well. Parking, available on the street, can be tricky, but we always managed to find a space within a block from the hotel. Conveniently located to the main square, you are within a few minutes walk to all the historical sights. Our stay here was a wonderful experience, and we will definitely go back.
