Hiking the Andes in Ecuador

October 16, 2016

This point on Condor Cocha at 5100 meters (16,732 feet) is the highest elevation I have ever hiked.  I live at sea level, so this was a challenge. The last 1000 meters of the trail were exhausting, and I had to stop every few steps to catch my breath.  This is the highest point you can go on the mountain without a guide.
